Dinusha Wijethunga (aka Dee) has been part of the Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill family since 2018, now leading the kitchen with passion, precision, and a strong sense of teamwork.
With a culinary style that blends Modern Australian flavours with French, Asian, and Italian influences, Dinusha brings creativity and refinement to the coastal dining experience. His dishes celebrate local produce, seasonal ingredients, and bold, balanced flavours, reflecting both his skill and his deep love for the Whitsundays region.
Known for his calm yet commanding presence in the kitchen, Dinusha thrives in the energy of a busy service, guiding his brigade with focus and enthusiasm. He believes that a great kitchen runs on teamwork, respect, and consistency, and he leads by example to bring out the best in his team every day.
Dee has revitalised the Northerlies menu with fresh new flavours and some new crowd-favourite dishes. He is the brains and creativity behind Northerlies’ incredible food which we all get to enjoy with a beautiful beach backdrop.
Beyond the kitchen, Dinusha enjoys exploring new cuisines, connecting with local suppliers, and spending time with his family and Labrador puppy by the sea.
